This past Saturday we played a beautiful if not adventurous wedding at the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center.
The Swan House is such an incredible backdrop for a wedding!
We got to play the ceremony music with a great trumpet player, Kevin Lyons. How fun!
Here's where things got a bit crazy. Right as the ceremony was ending, the sky turned black and thunder came out of nowhere. A very severe storm popped up out of nowhere and everyone started running en mass. The cocktail hour had been moved into the History Center because of the rain, and we had to pack up our instruments and gear as fast as we could so nothing would get rained on. Everyone was crammed together, trying to run across the bridge to the History Center, meanwhile trees were falling down all across Buckhead, and West Paces Ferry was particularly hard hit!
Everyone made it inside the History Center mere SECONDS before the storm really hit. We were so thankful for that!
And of course, the ballroom was stunning as always! :)
We played some fun tunes for the cocktail hour, and then it was time to head home!
Many of the roads leading out of Buckhead were blocked by downed trees and power lines, but thankfully we all made it home safely!
All in all, it was an adventurous day, but the wedding turned out absolutely beautiful!
