One of the most common questions we get asked is if we can learn new songs for an event. The answer is: absolutely! String instruments are incredibly versatile, and we play music from just about all genres. However, the reality is that there just aren't a lot of string arrangements of non-classical tunes. Many times when a client asks us if we can play their favorite song, there simply isn't string sheet music available. The good news is that we write a lot of our own arrangements, so we can write custom arrangements for your special song requests, even if sheet music doesn't exist! When we write a custom arrangement for a song, we can ensure that the music is written in such a way so that the song translates to strings perfectly. We charge a flat fee of $100 per new song, and we can offer a multiple-song discount if you request more than 2 new songs for your event. If you have a special song in mind, just ask! You can get a custom quote for your event here. If you are planning on requesting any new songs that aren't on our existing set list, please let Amber know as soon as possible. Writing new arrangements and learning new songs is very time consuming, so it's important that we have plenty of time to prepare for your event. Please note that adding new music is at the discretion of Cobalt Strings. Likewise, if we don't have enough time to learn a new song, we may decline to learn it.
We also are frequently asked if we can accompany a vocalist on a special song during the wedding ceremony. The answer is almost always yes! It's just important to know that accompanying a vocalist requires planning ahead of time--I have to make sure that I write the music in the key that the vocalist needs, etc. We also require that the vocalist meet with us 1.5 hours before the wedding in order to rehearse together. Please note that there is a $100 fee to accompany a vocalist (this fee is on top of the new song fee.)
